Paris Haute Couture S/S 2010: Elie Saab

With Eliee Saab collection I have mixed feelings.
Is a gorgeous glamourous collection, perfect for the red carpet ( that was the first thing that I thought when I saw the collection, Too much Rachel Zoe project maybe?) , with young designs, and classic designs (for all ages) . But, for other side, is nothing new, the designs were expected, and if it wasn't for the fabrics, the dresses would be just prom dresses.
The shoes were glamourous as the dresses, nothing more femenine than lace/ The details saved a lot of dresses, made them more "haute" than "prom" / As I said, the fabrics made the dresses better dresses, I was wanna touch them / The "knitted" of some dresses is amazing.
Well, the only bad thing, they were usual designs. And of course they look gorgeous, but, they wasn't couture enough.

What do you think?

Paris Haute Couture S/S 2010: Chanel

I selection of my favourites collections for this reviews. First..

Chanel Haute Couture
Satin, Organza and Chiffon were the thing of the dresses. Creating gorgeous shapes, the dresses seams to mixed with jewellry aplications creating one amazing piece of couture. the dresses were young with sofisticated cuts and shapes. A classic fabric created a young wearable dress.
Pastels colors are not my favourite color at all. But I couldn't resist to it after this collection. Silver+Pastel, wich mix the sweetness of the pastel with the modernism of silver. Wich didn't made a futuristic collection ( as Karl said) is more like a reinvention of what we have.

Another good thing of the collection is, of course, the shoes
Again a good contrast, Silver+ Rococo. The minimalism of silver with the overconstructed rococo heels and wedges.
And please let's talk about the hairstyle. Is this sort of medley between Dracula by Bram Stoker, the movie, Daphne Guiness and Marie Antoniette with a cartoonish touch. I love it.

In summary

The party dresses with exquisites aplications, always beautifull// The coccon shape of some coats, with an elegant look// The Chanel jacket reinvented (again) in pastel and silver colors // And elegant jackets with femenine skirts
Some dresses created a old shape, specialy when they were used with bad colors // The knee shorts used with the jackets didn't work very well for me. The shape is not very flattering and it took a little bit of elegance to the jacket // The super silver men suit. No comments. Although I like the tie and the shoes.

Did you like the collection? What's your favourite?

Night at the Sonesta

This weekend I had the most amazing weekend with my dear friends. Few months ago the first 5 stars hotel opened in our town, and we decided go to visit.
The rooms were great, big, very bright, with an minimalistic design, but very warm because of the wood furniture. I felt in home.

So, we arrived, organized our rooms, and then, POOL!!!
On th top floor there's this warm pool, very relaxing, we were alone and almost spend 5 hours there.
My friends swimming.
And with jacuzzy too! very windy, but, you know what? First time in my life that I used a jacuzzy.
Out of the pool....
Let's get ready for the night.
So I took a bath...
Then I played a little bit in my huge bed.Enjoyed the view
Then went to my friends room for the make up and all that stuff
And outfit pictures
The Sonesta hotel has a casino next to it, you cross the loby and there is the casino. No cameras were allowed there (so no photos, sorry), but I had a lot of luck at the machines, yey!
Then we came back to our rooms for more fun.

Drinks!
And city pictures by Ale.
We had so much fun!! The hotel was amazing, the food too, and the best, it was very cheap, I love when good things are cheap. So if some day you come to Concepcion, Chile, I totally recomend this hotel.

Gaucho Glam

As a fan of Chanel, an addict to Freja Beha and as a disciple of Karl I have to post this.
The campaign of the sweet Chanel Spring/Summer 2010 colection. Karl made an exquisite use of textures (as in the clothes), using brilliantly the landscapes of the beautiful Argentina.

I really like the contrast between the tough aspect of Freja and the pure aspect of the clothes. She show us (as in the runway show) this sort of, as we call here in Chile, "huaso de campo" (wich can be translate as a "farm owner", someone powerfull and tough in someway).

The pictures with Baptiste Giabiconi are my favourites, the body lenguage is great, and he really knows how to wear that clothes.
Claudia Schiffer appears in the campaign too, but I have to be sincere, I'd never liked her, and I still don't like her, so whatever, I didn't post her pictures of the campaigne. Anyway there are not too much Claudia's pictures as Frejas pictures (Love you Freja!!).

I still want this collection so badly, and people, do you remember the Chanel tatoos?, well, the other day Chanel sent me an email saying that they'll be on sale very soon, I'm in the waitlist (althought I don't know how and where I'll buy them).

Reeeeplay: Phoenix

Phoenix is a band that I forgot. One night I was watching SNL and this guys appeared, and I told to myself “ Right! I forgot you guys! You’re my soundtrack for this summer”
I ran to my computer and I copied their music to my mp3. Every single day I listen at least on of their songs.

Phoenix style is not very common in my music library. First, the voice of the vocalist, I always listen singers with a lot of matices in their voices, but his voice is monotonus, but in a good way, in an enjoyable way.
Second, the only french music that I listen are some electro groups or old classic songs, and Phoenix is this sort of alternative rock (I don’t like that name, is to wide) french band, wich is a new thing for me.

Other thing that I like of these guys is the feeling of “ We are a bunch of friends who loves to play music”, I love when a band are more a group of friends than a BAND. Music is better (in some cases).

With songs easy to be understand, no complicated lyrics wich needs a lot of think to understand. One night stories, city stories, and of course love stories.
Phoenix became my soundtrack for this summer, with a lot of rythms to offer and I’m very sure that they’ll be the soundtrack for this winter too.

BTW, did you see the Coachella bands? Are you kidding me? Is like they said “Hey! Why don’t we put together all Melissa’s favourite singers and we make this amazing festival, but she can’t come” When I saw it I just wanna cry, I saw MUSE in big letters, Thom Yorke(???), Grizzly Bear, MGMT, Faith no More, PHOENIX (come on!!), mutemath, Vampire Weekend, la Roux, Florence and the Machine!!…I mean, Come on!!! I wanna go... or die *Snif*

Check one of my favourite videos and songs of Phoenix, "Lisztomania".
